Fayose: I was prepared to burn my PDP membership card at supreme court

Ayo Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, says he went to the supreme court with the mindset to set ablaze his membership card if Ali Modu Sheriff had been declared chairman of the party.

The apex court had on Wednesday affirmed Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic chairman of the party, effectively ending the leadership tussle of the PDP.

Fayose said he was armed “with a perfume” which he would have sprayed on his PDP membership cards and party flags before burning them.

The governor said it was his intention to carry out the act within the court premises.

He made this known on Friday while addressing PDP supporters in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

“I never imagined myself being in the same party with impostors,” he said.

“I went to court with a perfume which I wanted to use to spray my cards and party flags and set them ablaze even within the court premises if Sheriff had won; that was why I went to court.

“Although I believe that we remain the same PDP family, no one can cause our party such pains and embarrassment and expect that he will go without being asked to account for his actions.

“The `no victor, no vanquished’ that we said was a mere political slogan. Whoever that participated in this charade must show some reasonable level of remorse for his actions.”
