The Police Service Commission (PSC) has set up a panel to study the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) documents indicting Abba Kyari, deputy commissioner of police.

Ikechukwu Ani, head of press and public relations, PSC, announced this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

Kyari was suspended after US court documents linked him to Ramon Abbas, self-confessed international fraudster better known as Hushpuppi.

Hushpuppi alleged that he bribed Kyari to arrest one Vincent Chibuzo, a co-fraudster.

Usman Alkali Baba, the inspector-general of police (IGP), had earlier ordered an internal probe of the allegations against the embattled deputy commissioner of police.

The PSC spokesman said the new panel would examine the facts of the allegations as contained in the FBI indictment, as well as the extant rules to keep abreast with the matter, pending the submission of the police investigative panel report.

Ani said the PSC panel, headed by Tijani Mohammed, the director of discipline in the commission, would gather and document relevant information on Kyari in view of it being a disciplinary matter.
