The Federal Capital Territory Administration in partnership with some private investors will spend N334 billion on the development of an ultramodern resort at Jabi Lake, Abuja, FCT minister Bala Mohammed has said.

As Bala explained, the reason for the huge expenditure on the project, which has already commenced, is to boost tourism in a city fast becoming a centre of attraction for tourists.

“When the resort is completed, it would take Abuja to the next level in promoting tourism and, by extension, generating revenue to augment budgetary allocation from the federal government,” he said.

Noting that the federal government had made much investment in the FCT, he emphasised the need for the creation of institutions and structures in terms of legal framework to leverage on private funding.

“In line with promoting tourism in the city, the FCT administration gave priority to the ongoing construction of the Abuja Millennium Towers at the Central Business District, where work at the site has reached an appreciable stage of completion,” he said, adding that the FCT administration had received “orders from President Goodluck Jonathan to build human capital and institution, and partnership in accordance with global best practice.”
