John Ogu, Super Eagles midfielder, says he is happy to have captained the team in Tuesday’s international friendly against Liberia.

Liberian president, George Oppong Weah, was the captain of the opposing side.

Weah, who played for 79 minutes, had his iconic number 14 jersey retired after the game.

Goals from Henry Onyekuru and Simeon Nwankwo spiced up Nigeria’s 2-1 victory at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia.

Weah, a former European footballer of the year, is the only African to have won the Ballon d’Or, Onze d’Or and FIFA world player of the year awards.

The 51-year-old played for Tonnero Yaoundé, Monaco, PSG and Marseille in France, AC Milan in Italy, Chelsea and Manchester City in the English Premier League, Al Jazira in the UAE Arabian Gulf League before he retired.
