FG declares Friday, Monday public holidays for Easter celebration

The federal government has declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, as public holidays to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, minister of interior, announced the holidays in a statement released on Wednesday through Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s permanent secretary.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated Christians across the country on the celebration of Easter, urging them to reflect on the virtues of love and sacrifice demonstrated by Jesus Christ in his death and resurrection.

He encouraged citizens to use the period to pray for peace, unity, and the continued stability of Nigeria.

The minister also reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to the renewed hope agenda, stressing the administration’s commitment to national development and prosperity.

Tunji-Ojo asked Nigerians to show love and kindness to one another through generous acts and support.

He wished Christians a joyful Easter celebration and extended warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.
