Ola Olukoyede
Ola Olukoyede, chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been honoured with the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS).
The award, an initiative of the office of the secretary to the government of the federation (OSGF) in collaboration with The Best Strategic Media, was presented on Sunday at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
George Akume, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), said the awards were created to promote merit and exceptional performance in public service.
Akume, who spoke on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, said the initiative recognises individuals whose work has contributed significantly to national development.

“The awards are instituted to recognise excellent service delivery by public office holders towards the transformation of the country,” he said.
The SGF noted that only 44 agency heads and appointees were selected this year.
Olukoyede was acknowledged for his “sterling performance” at the EFCC, particularly in strengthening the commission’s anti-corruption mandate.

The organisers noted that under Olukoyede’s leadership, the EFCC has recorded recoveries running into hundreds of billions of naira, traced and seized assets linked to illicit funds, and intensified the crackdown on money laundering.
They added that his reforms also contributed to Nigeria’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list in October 2025 — a milestone that signals improved financial transparency and regulatory compliance.
Other recipients of the NEAPS included five state governors, ministers and heads of federal agencies.
The event drew governors, ministers, heads of MDAs, and private sector leaders.
