The federal government has launched a nationwide digital skills programme in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The partnership will offer free training and certification in cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and related technologies.

In a statement via X on Saturday, the ministry of education said the initiative aims to equip students and educators with globally relevant digital competencies.

“Big move for Nigeria’s education. Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the programme will be rolled out to all federal, state, and private tertiary institutions,” the statement reads.

“The best part? Certification is 100 percent free, split between the Ministry and AWS. Let’s bridge the digital divide, #Skills4All #Education.”

The programme, already live in 43 federal universities and polytechnics, is now expanding to include all state and private tertiary institutions.

The ministry has also requested institutions to nominate coordinators to facilitate the rollout of the programme.
