The federal government has postponed the date for the collection of national honour award certificates and medals.

The awardees were expected to receive their certificates and medals on Thursday, June 1.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ibiene Roberts, permanent secretary, ministry of special duties and intergovernmental affairs, said a new date will be communicated to the awardees in due course.

Roberts said the postponement was as a result of circumstances beyond the control of the ministry.

The permanent secretary apologised to the awardees on behalf of the ministry for any inconvenience.

“All award recipients are to send copies of their citations/resumes to the secretary, national honours awards committee, federal ministry of special duties and inter-governmental affairs (FMSDIGA) on or before June 9,” the statement reads.

“The soft copies should be sent to the following e-mail addresses: [email protected], [email protected] in the following format: “Biodata — title, surname, other names, gender, phone no,  email, state of origin and address.

“Citation and biography (not more than 500 words) —  early life,  educational qualifications,  career/achievements, personal life hobbies etc.) and passport photograph.”

Recently, 339 persons were nominated by the federal government to receive national honours.

Emeka Anyaoku, former commonwealth secretary-general, is the sole person nominated for Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).

Those listed for the award of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) are Godwin Emefiele, governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); Hadi Sirika, minister of aviation; and Bisi Akande, a former governor of Osun state.
