The federal government has directed its ministries, departments and agencies to provide the global positioning system (GPS) coordinates of the location of all projects to be included in the 2021 budget.

This directive is contained in the 2021 budget call circular published by the Budget Office.

It said the move will facilitate the geo-tagging of projects and the use of technology in monitoring and evaluating projects.

The federal government also said it will not accommodate new projects in the budget as its focus is on completing ongoing ones.

“MDAs are hereby advised that new projects will not be admitted into the capital budget for 2021 unless adequate provision has been made for the completion of all ongoing projects,” the document read.

On travels and training, the federal government said: “MDAs are enjoined to restrict their travels, training and capacity development programmes to locations within the country and as close to their office locations as possible.

“Foreign travels and training should be limited to exceptional cases, and with necessary approvals in accordance with extant government policy.”

MDAs were also advised to restrict foreign trips and avoid including expenditure on vehicles, furnishing and equipping of non-critical offices in their budgets.
