FHA commissions ‘1.2km’ roads in Abuja, pledges more projects nationwide

FHA commissions projects in Abuja

Oyetunde Ojo, managing director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), says the agency will deliver more projects across the country in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Ojo spoke on Tuesday during the commissioning of three road projects totalling “1.2 kilometres” in Apo-Guzape estate, Abuja.

He said the FHA is committed to prioritising the security of lives and property within its estates.

“With available funds, more roads will be built across our estates nationwide,” he said.

The commissioned projects include 645 metres on 1st Avenue, 540 metres on 13th Crescent, and 15 metres on E Close.

Ojo said the construction of the roads was challenging due to hilly terrains and frequent blasting of rocks, but described the work as a necessary intervention to address security risks posed by criminals using the area as hideouts.

He commended the staff, management, and contractors of the authority for their teamwork, saying the multilateral decisions taken under the new leadership have produced positive results.

The FHA boss added that the authority will not relent on housing delivery, staff welfare, and other initiatives that will move the agency forward.

He said the management intends to open up the authority to healthy competition, adding that the government should be able to achieve more than the private sector with adequate funding, regulation, and an enabling environment.

Ojo also promised that the delivery of projects will not be compromised, with a commitment to high quality and standards.

He lauded contractors for completing the road projects on schedule and said their performance was impressive.
