FIFA have announced the dates for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The number one football event will now be staged from November 21 to December 18 in 2022.

FIFA’s executive committee confirmed the dates which means it will be the first ever winter World Cup from the traditional summer tournament to avoid Qatar’s heat.

Also, the event will take place over 28 days, which is four less than usual.

The shorter tournament was approved to lessen the disruption to leagues like the Barclays Premier League which will have to shut down mid-season.
