Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa, has reduced the 24-hour curfew to 12 hours.
On Sunday, the governor imposed a curfew over the activities of hoodlums who attacked residents and broke into business premises and homes, carting away property.
Citing hardship as motivation, the hoodlums reportedly looted food and non-food items from government warehouses and other private-owned food stores.
TheCable had earlier reported that over 100 people were arrested in connection with the development.
Suleiman Nguroje, spokesperson of the Adamawa police, told TheCable that the command is making arrangements to charge arrested suspects to court.
However, in a statement on Monday, Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor’s chief press secretary, said the curfew has been relaxed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. following a meeting with security chiefs.
The governor advised parents to engage their kids and enroll them in school to allow for the smooth running of businesses.
He warned hoodlums and other residents to abide by the curfew and remain cooperative if approached and questioned by security personnel.
