Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa, says the violent clash between operatives of the Nigerian army and police officers in the state has been resolved.

On Wednesday, Jacob Daniel, a police inspector, was killed after some soldiers attacked the police command headquarters in Yola north LGA of the state.

According to Afolabi Babatola, commissioner of police in Adamawa, the officer died during the gun duel between the two sets of security operatives.

Babatola said soldiers had stormed the police facility over a “conflict” with some officers at the Target Junction in Yola north LGA.

However, Gambo Mohammed, commander of Brigade 23 in Yola, said the kerfuffle began after a military personnel was shot in the leg by a police officer on patrol.

In a post on his official X account on Thursday, Fintiri said an “emergency security meeting” was called over the clash.

He added that the resolution from the meeting was for the “commitment to justice and collaboration for the peace of Adamawa and Nigeria”.

The governor commiserated with the family of the officer who lost his life in the clash.

“Addressed an emergency security meeting in Yola following the regrettable clash between Nigerian Army and Police,” the post reads.

“The conflict near Target Junction has been resolved, with a commitment to justice and collaboration for the peace of Adamawa and Nigeria.

“My condolences for the loss of one officer from both sides. We urge restraint to prevent a recurrence.”
