Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa, says members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are rebuilding the party into a stronger, more united, and focused party capable of leading Nigeria again.

Fintiri, who chairs the PDP convention planning committee, spoke in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, on Thursday after inspecting the venue of the event scheduled for November 15.

“Today, I led the PDP National Convention Organising Committee Executive to Ibadan, Oyo State, to assess preparations for our forthcoming Ibadan 2025 Convention,” Fintiri wrote in a post on X.

“Governor Seyi Makinde’s efforts reflect excellence and readiness. We’re building a stronger PDP—united, focused, and prepared to lead Nigeria forward.”

Recently, the PDP has been hit by a gale of defections, with several prominent members, including governors and lawmakers, dumping the opposition party for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Peter Mbah, the governor of Enugu, and Douye Diri, his Bayelsa counterpart, moved to the APC two days apart this week.

Agbu Kefas, governor of Taraba, is also considering joining the ruling party, according to the rumour mill.
