A fire outbreak around midnight of Thursday razed the plank section of the Ọgbọ Osisi market, in Onitsha, Anambra state.
The cause and other details surrounding the outbreak is yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson of the Anambra police command, who confirmed the incident to NAN, said operatives led by the divisional police officer, made efforts to bring the situation under control.
He added that a few kind-hearted people also assisted in extinguishing the fire.
“The situation is closely monitored by fire service as further details shall be communicated as the operation is ongoing,” he said.
Ikenga added that there is no record of loss of life and the value of property destroyed has not yet been ascertained.
