A fire outbreak occurred in the popular singer market in Kano in the early hours of Thursday, destroying property worth millions of naira.

Balarabe Kabara, the state director of fire service, Kabara confirmed the incident, saying many shops in the market had been destroyed.

“We are yet to ascertain the actual number of shops destroyed as we are still battling to put out the inferno,” he said.

“We cannot give you the number of shops affected but the fire had destroyed many shops.”

Aminu Inuwa, a witness, said the fire had razed a number of ware houses of food stuff and essential commodities located within the market.
