First batch of 10,000 police recruits complete training

Boniface Onyeabor, commandant of the Lagos police college, says the first batch of 10,000 police officers recruited on the order of President Muhammadu Buhari have completed their training.

Speaking with NAN on Wednesday, Onyeabor said that 123 cadet inspectors and 52 recruits were in the category of officers that passed out from the college.

He said that the officers would embark on a two-week vacation and after that resume duty at their different state commands.

The commandant of the college also added that another 1,300 general duty policemen would also complete training at the college between September and December.

“The first batch of police personnel belonging to the specialist units passed out from the college on May 19,” he said.

“They will be on two-week vacation before they resume at their different state commands.”

Onyeabor said the recruits were trained to fit into modern day policing, respect human rights, shun corruption, indiscipline and all forms of professional misconduct.

On August 15, 2015, Buhari ordered the recruitment of 10,000 additional police officers for effective policing of the country.
