The Rivers state police command says it has rescued five students who were abducted from their residences by unidentified cultists.

The suspected cultists abducted the students from the Emohua satellite campus of the Rivers State University (RSU) on Monday.

The victims are Prince London, Azubuike Kelechukwu, Elizabeth Aniete, Onyebuchi Precious, and London Sampson.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the Rivers police spokesperson, said the victims were found unharmed during an operation in Rumudogo 2 community, Emuoha LGA.

The spokesperson said the rescue was carried out by the command’s tactical teams in collaboration with sister security agencies and support from the locals.

He said the rescued victims have been taken to a hospital for medical examination, adding that the police have intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing abductors.

Iringe-Koko said Olugbenga Adepoju, commissioner of police in Rivers, has warned that the force will not relent until perpetrators are brought to justice.
