Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba, has released the names of 20 players scheduled to play an international friendly against Benin Republic at Charles de Gaulle Stadium in Porto Novo on Sunday, May 4.
The players are Joshua Enaholo, Adamu Abubakar, Abdulazeez Abubakar, Musa Muhammed, Mustapha Abdullahi, Ifeanyi Nweke, Wilfred Ndidi, Izu Omego and Zaharadeen Bello.
Others are Chidiebere Nwakali, Musa Yahaya, Kelechi Iheanacho, Abdullahi Alfa, Akinjide Idowu, Wasiu Jimoh, Ifeanyi Matthew, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Alhassan Ibrahim, Taiwo Awoniyi and Sulaiman Abdullahi.
The international friendly is a build-up match to the team’s 2015 African Youth Championship (AYC) qualifier against Tanzania.
Nigeria and Benin Republic are not new to each other at this level. They drew 1-1 in Cotonou in September 2012, while the rematch in Abuja ended in a goalless draw.
After the match, Flying Eagles are expected to leave for Tanzania for their first-leg AYC qualifier slated for the weekend of May 9 to May 11. The return leg will be in Nigeria two weeks later.
