Flying Eagles lost 2-0 to Burkina Faso in the men’s football final at the 12th All Africa Games to claim the silver medal at the Boubker Aamar Stadium on Friday.

The search for gold in the men’s football event at the “African Olympics” showpiece continued forty-six years after Nigeria last won it on home soil in 1973.

Cheick Djibril Ouattara netted Burkina Faso’s first in the 24th minute.

Ismaila Ouedraogo doubled their lead in the 30th minutes to compound the Paul Aigbogun tutored side’s woes:

The second stanza of the game saw Burkina Faso with a fortified defence that frustrated the Flying Eagles in the final third.
