Nigeria on Saturday qualified for the 2019 African Youth Championship following a ruthless 5-0 rout of Mauritania.

Kano Pillars starlet Nazifi Yahaya was the hero as he grabbed a hat-trick in the one-sided game at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.

Wasiu Alalade and Norway based midfielder Afeez Aremu were also on song for the Paul Aigbogun-tutored team.

The Flying Eagles finished 6-1 over two legs following a 1-1 first leg draw.

The 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, which will take place in Niger, will be the 15th edition of the tournament.

The top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.

Zambia are the defending champions.
