Focus on Nigeria’s challenges, stop attacking Amaechi, group tells APC

Rotimi Amaechi

CRA’27 Advocacy Network, a support group of Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation, has asked the All Progressives Congress (APC) to prioritise fixing Nigeria’s challenges.

The APC in Lagos state had said the former governor of Rivers state lacks the credibility and influence to lead and that he is “irrelevant nationally and steadily sinking into total political oblivion”.

However, in a statement issued on Wednesday, Abdulhakeem Lawal, CRA’27 Advocacy Network spokesperson, asked the ruling party to focus on addressing the economy and insecurity.

“Rather than insult a man who led the party (APC) to its only legitimate electoral victories and built and served the same party with distinction before rejecting its rot, the APC should answer the questions Nigerians are asking daily,” the statement reads.

“What has become of the trillions claimed to have been saved from fuel subsidy removal, the new taxes, tariff hikes and borrowings? Why has none of it translated into better living standards for Nigerians?

“Inflation has broken records — 139 million Nigerians now live in abject poverty. Where are the results?

“The truth is, Rotimi Amaechi has consistently stated that to confront insecurity, the government must first improve economic factors and then social factors.

“He did not negotiate with criminals during his tenure as governor; he succeeded in taming insecurity in Rivers state.”

Lawal added that President Bola Tinubu has not shown sympathy by visiting communities affected by banditry and insurgent attacks.
