Football world pays tribute to victims of Manchester attack

Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Manchester United, several sports stars and football clubs have paid tribute to victims of Monday’s attack at Manchester Arena, UK.

The blast which took place at the tail-end of a concert by American pop star Ariana Grande left at least 22 dead and 59 people injured.

“We are deeply shocked by last night’s terrible events at the Manchester Arena. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected,” United wrote on Twitter.

United’s players are expected to wear black armbands when they face Ajax in the Europa League final on Wednesday night in Sweden.

Ajax also expressed their sympathies ahead of the encounter.

Arsenal, Liverpool and several other clubs also expressed their condolences via Twitter.
