Former US President George W.H. Bush hospitalised

Former US President George H.W. Bush has been hospitalised at Houston hospital, Texas, after he experienced shortness of breath.

The Republican who served as the 41st President of US is the father of 43rd President George W. Bush.

During World War II and aged 18, Bush senior joined the US Navy following the attacks on Pearl Harbor, where he became a naval aviator after graduating from Phillips Academy.

He succeeded President Ronald Reagan in 1989 after a successful campaign as his vice president.

Bush co-founded Zapata Offshore Company, an oil company which specialises in offshore drilling before going into politics.

In June 2014, he celebrated his 90th birthday by by making a tandem parachute jump near his summer home in coastal Maine.

Accoring to CNN, President Barrack Obama was told about Bush’s hospitalization.

“President Obama and the first lady send their good wishes to the former President and the entire Bush family during this holiday season,” Eric Schultz, the White House spokesman, said.
