Sana’ada Ilimi Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has announced the prize winners of its 2021 Business Plan Competition.

The foundation had in December 2020 announced opening of entries for the competition.

In a statement on Wednesday, the foundation stated that the overall prize was increased to N1 million, while nine persons were announced as winners.

The prize winners are Auwal Bashir from Jigawa (N300,000), Hauwa Abubakar from Kano (N200,000), Ibrahim Aliyu from Kano (N150,000) and Muhammad Garba from Jigawa (N100,000).

Others are Aisha Auwal/Maryam Usman, joint winners from Kano (N100,000), Khadeeja Khaleel from Kano, Tasiu Yakubu from Jigawa and Rabi’a Nura from Kano awarded N50,000 each.

“The Foundation is grateful to an anonymous donor who donated N50,000 and to The Cable, Garba Shehu and Kadaria Ahmed for providing publicity for the competition,” the organisation said.

“In view of the interest shown, the Foundation increased the overall prize from N650,000 to N1 million. 3rd & 4th prizes were increased to N150,000 & N100,000 respectively. Two 4th places were awarded N100,000 each. Three consolation prizes were added at N50,000 each.

“By preparing a business plan, an important step in attracting external funding, all participants are winners. The Foundation wishes all participants the best in their endeavours.”

Earlier in the month, the foundation gave a N250,000 grant to five female internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Abuja and Borno state.

The grant follows TheCable’s report on how the women are getting back their livelihood despite being displaced by Boko Haram insurgents. The women, mostly widows, got N50,000 each.
