The Cedar Seed Foundation (CSF) has launched the ‘Vote for Her’ campaign in Abuja to champion the inclusion of women and girls with disabilities in politics.

The 15-day nationwide initiative, which began on August 4, 2025, aims to dismantle systemic barriers and increase the political visibility of women with disabilities.

The campaign is pushing for the recognition of women with disabilities not just as voters but also as candidates, appointees, and decision-makers.

Lois Auta, executive director of CSF, called the campaign a powerful declaration.

“We say: Enough is enough. Women and girls with disabilities must not remain invisible in political spaces. ‘Vote for Her’ is not just a campaign — it’s a declaration that She Matters,” she stated.

Over the next two weeks, the campaign will deploy digital storytelling and grassroots mobilisation to raise awareness.

High-level engagements with political stakeholders will advocate for inclusive electoral processes and changes to political party constitutions.

CSF is also advocating for the full implementation of the 5 percent affirmative action quota for persons with disabilities (PWDs) as mandated by the 2018 Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act.

The foundation is urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other political bodies to ensure all election procedures and documents are inclusive and accessible.

“Inclusive governance is not a luxury — it’s a necessity. Let no woman be left behind,” CSF stated.
