Four suspected kidnappers, including a lady, have been arrested by the Kano police command.

The suspects, whose names were withheld, were arrested after the police raided a house in Jaba village, Ungogo local government area of the state.

Abdullahi Haruna, police public relations officer (PPRO) in the state, who confirmed the arrest to TheCable on Monday, said three men and a lady were arrested in the operation.

He said the command discovered that the lady hired the apartment which they lodged from a rental agent at the rate of N600,000 per year.

The police spokesman added that the lady ventured into kidnapping as a business after her husband, who was a cattle rustler, was killed in Zamfara.

Kano is among the states in north-west Nigeria that have witnessed a surge in kidnapping and other criminality.

Nine children were kidnapped last October in the state.
