The police command in Lagos says it has arrested four persons for allegedly faking the kidnap of one Agnes Ogbeh, a resident of Akure, Ondo state capital.

The suspects are Ogbeh, 23; Esther Anyanwu, 24; Anthony Chinakwe, 24; and Margaret Itodo, 25.

In a statement on Friday, Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police spokesperson, said Ogbeh travelled to Lagos from Akure, and her family was called that she had been kidnapped in Lagos.

Hundeyin said the family was sent a video showing how Ogbeh and another lady were tied, with blood stains around them.

The Lagos police spokesperson said Ogbeh’s family was asked to pay the sum of N5 million as ransom.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, detectives of the command commenced a discreet and diligent investigation into the matter,” the statement reads.

“The hideout was located. Agnes, the other lady in the video, and two others were found living freely together.

“Further investigations revealed that Margaret Itodo, a professional make-up artist, was hired to make the video look real.

“All four have made confessional statements. They will be arraigned after the investigation.”
