Four people were reportedly injured after a truck transporting bags of onions triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) at Lingir Village, Guzamala LGA of Borno.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the truck was travelling from Baga Village in Kukawa LGA to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno, when the incident happened.

Makama said the IED went off around 10:30 am on Wednesday, injuring the truck driver, 25-year-old Umar Isah, and three passengers.

The passengers were identified as Suleiman Isa, 22; Ibrahim Bala, 25; and Umar Hassan, 22; all residents of Maiduguri.

It said those injured were first taken to a hospital in Maiduguri and are responding to treatment.
