Fresh Israeli strikes on a hospital in southern Gaza has killed over a dozen people including four journalists from multiple international outlets.

Nasser Medical Complex said at least 14 people were killed in Monday morning’s attack with the BBC reporting that the toll had risen to 15.

The journalists killed are Mohammad Salama, a cameraman from Al Jazeera; Hussam Al-Masri who was a contractor for Reuters; Mariam Abu Dagga, who has worked with the Associated Press (AP) and other outlets throughout the war; and Moath Abu Taha, a freelance journalist.

A Reuters live video feed from the hospital, operated by Masri, suddenly shut down during the initial strike.

Hatem Khaled, a photographer who was also a Reuters contractor, was wounded, officials said.

The latest incident adds to mounting concerns over the safety of journalists in Gaza, where press freedom groups say media workers have faced unprecedented risks since the war began.

Israel is yet to comment on the strikes and previously denied targeting journalists.

But the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) acknowledged that the previous strike that killed five Al Jazeera journalists was deliberate.

Gaza’s civil defence organisation said one of its crew members also died in the attack.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) council of foreign ministers is currently holding an emergency meeting in Jeddah to discuss starvation and Israel’s continuous aggression in Gaza, including Israeli plans to occupy the Gaza strip.

A joint action plan is expected to be unfurled afterwards.
