House of representatives
Four members of the house of representatives have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker include Umezuruike Manuchim (Port Harcourt I federal constituency), who defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the APC.
Boniface Emerengwa (Ikwerre/Emohua federal constituency), Awaji-Inombek Abiante (Opobo/Nkoro/Andoni federal constituency), and Boma Goodhead (Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru federal constituency) all moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

The legislators attributed their departure from the APC to the PDP’s leadership crisis.
The opposition party has experienced a wave of defections to the APC since the beginning of the year.
Last week, Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers, defected from the PDP to the APC.

Fubara joined the ruling party about a week after 15 members of the Rivers state house of assembly, including Martin Awaewhule, the speaker, joined the APC.
