At least four officers attached to the 25 task force brigade of operation Hadin Kai have been reportedly wounded after running into an improvised explosive device (IED) in Borno.

The IED was allegedly planted by insurgents.

According to Zagazola Makama, a publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the soldiers were said to be on patrol along the Wajiroko-Sabon in Damboa LGA of the state on Monday.

“At least four soldiers were wounded after a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) struck a convoy of troops during a fighting patrol along Wajiroko-Sabon in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State on January 30,” the publication reads.

“They were believed to be from Wajiroko under the 25 Task Force Brigade, Operation Hadin Kai.

“The wounded soldiers were transferred to the Maimalari hospital for medical management.”

The 25 task force brigade of operation Hadin Kai has sustained an onslaught on the members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) and other insurgent groups around the Damboa community.

The troops, on January 24, repelled an attack by insurgents while on patrol in Komala village along the road leading to Maiduguri from Damboa town.

Meanwhile, on December 2, 2022, the troops also killed scores of insurgents following a gunfight in Damboa.
