From Arsenal, Nwakali seals loan move to second-tier Dutch side

Arsenal have shipped Nigerian youngster Kelechi Nwakali on loan to Dutch second-tier side, MVV Maastricht.

According to Maastricht website, “attacking midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has been added to the selection by MVV Maastricht”.

“After Stefan O’Connor, Nwakali is the second player from Arsenal to join MVV Maastricht on loan up to the end of the current season,” it said.

“The 18-year-old Nwakali is under contract until June 2021 with the English Premier League club.”

Ron Elsen, manager of the club, confirmed Nwakali’s arrival, saying: ”

“Kelechi is a multifunctional attacking midfielder with scoring ability and a nose for the final pass. He is a promising player and will develop with playing time at the senior level.”

The Nigeria U20 skipper was the MVP of last year’s FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile, which Nigeria won.
