FRSC: Three dead, five injured in Osun road accident

The Osun command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says three persons died in an accident on the Osogbo-Ilobu highway.

The agency said five persons were also injured in the accident that happened on Thursday morning.

Agnes Ogungbemi, the command spokesperson, said in a statement that the accident involved a white Mazda commercial vehicle near the Ojutu bridge on Ilobu highway.

She said the driver of the vehicle lost control due to excessive speed which led to the accident.

“Three persons lost their lives in the lone accident while the remaining five others have been taken to Osun State Teaching Hospital for further treatment,” the statement reads.

“We commend other sister security agencies, the Nigeria police and members of the vigilance group with the O-ambulance services for their quick response.”

She added that the command had handed the three cell phones recovered from the scene of the accident to the police.

Ogungbemi advised motorists to always be safety conscious and learn to obey the stipulated speed limit to make lives and the road safer in the state.
