FULL LIST: Akor benched as Onyeka, Ajayi make Eagles’ starting XI against DR Congo

Eric Chele, the Super Eagles head coach, has made only two changes to the starting line-up that will play the Democratic Republic of Congo in the final of the Africa playoffs for the 2026 World Cup. 

The Franco-Malian coach opts to bench Adam Akor and Bright Osayi-Samuel after both players started the semi-final match against Gabon.

Akor scored the Eagles’ first goal in their 4-1 victory over the Gabonese.

Frank Onyeka and Sami Ajayi are the new additions to the team’s starting eleven for the DR Congo game.

Ajayi will pair with Calvin Bassey in defence, while Onyeka will form a midfield trio alongside Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi.

Benjamin Fredrick is shifted to the right back with Zaidu Sanusi on the other side of the defence. Stanley Nwabali remains in goal for the team.

Victor Osimhen will spearhead the attack with Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze on both flanks.

The Super Eagles will face DR Congo on Sunday at 8 pm Nigerian time.

The winners of the match will qualify as Africa’s representatives for the intercontinental playoff for the World Cup next year.
