Ganduja abolishes HND/university dichotomy in state civil service

The Kano state government has abolished the dichotomy between higher national diploma (HND) and university degree holders in the state.

Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of the statedisclosed this during the workers day celebrations at Sani Abacha stadium on Wednesday in Kano.

Ganduje said the decision to abolish the dichotomy is part of his administration’s effort to boost the morale of civil servants in the state.

He added that his government was working assiduously in enhancing the welfare of civil servants.

The governor explained that arrangements had been completed for the implementation of the new N30,000 minimum wage approved by President Muhammad Buhari.

He said his administration would continue to give priority to the welfare of civil servants and all residents of the state.

Kabiru Ado-Minjibir, chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in Kano, lauded the efforts of the state government in enhancing welfare and working condition of civil servants.

He appealed to the state government to implement payment of allowances for workers of state tertiary institution as applicable to their colleagues in the federal civil service.

The NLC chairman also commended the administration for ensuring the payment of workers salary without delay and also the payment of pensioners.

Ado-Minjibir urged civil servants to reciprocate government gestures by being committed to duty through efficient productivity and better service delivery.
