Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano state, will perform the official handing over of the affairs of the state to Abba Yusuf, the governor-elect, today.

All elected officials are to be sworn in on May 29.

In a statement on Sunday, Muhammad Garba, commissioner for information and internal affairs, said the event is billed for 9pm at the government house in Kano.

Garba said the state government transition committee has communicated the development to the transition committee of the governor-elect.

He said the two committees met within the week during which a handing-over document was presented to the governor-elect’s committee and also worked out a harmonised agenda for the ceremony.

The commissioner explained that after the event, Ganduje would depart for Abuja as head of the Kano delegation to the inauguration of Bola Tinubu, president-elect, on Monday.

He added that the governor’s departure was necessary to beat the deadline for the closure of Nnamdi Azikiwe Internation Airport, Abuja, for the presidential inauguration.
