Gateway Games: Ibas pledges N2m for each gold medal won by Rivers athletes

The NSF Touch of Unity arrives in Rivers

Ibok-Ete Ibas, Rivers administrator, has pledged N2 million for each gold medal won by the state’s contingents at the upcoming 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun.

The promise was made on Thursday at a pre-departure rally for Rivers athletes ahead of the competition.

Ibas was represented at the event by Ibibia Worika, the secretary to the state government (SSG).

Worika revealed that the government would give N1 million for each silver medal and N500,000 for each bronze medal to the athlete.

The SSG added that the reward scheme is the “most generous” in the country and urged the athletes to make the state proud.

“Rivers State believes in you. His Excellency is investing in your victory because you represent the pride, strength, and future of our state,” he said.

“This is the most generous reward scheme in Nigeria—now go out there, dominate the competition, and bring glory to Rivers State!”
