Work is set to continue on the Paddy-Arikawe Igbimo road in Sagamu, Ogun state, after the contractor handling the project agreed to comply with the state government’s directive.
The 260-metre road project, facilitated by Gbenga Daniel, senator representing Ogun east, is being executed by Minim and Tonye Nigeria Limited through the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA).
The state government, in a letter dated September 22, ordered the contractor to stop work for failing to secure the necessary regulatory approval.
The state said the contractor’s initial designs fell short of the standards of the federal ministry of works, particularly on drainage and pavement specifications. It directed the company to correct the defects and resubmit the drawings for approval.

Responding in a letter addressed to Ade Akinsanya, commissioner for works and infrastructure, the contractor said it had accepted the government’s specifications and would adjust its design accordingly.
The company added that it has been instructed by BCDA to commence drainage works using the dimensions and concrete grades recommended by the ministry.
The state government, in its response, listed additional conditions, including the use of reinforced concrete pavement of not less than Grade 35, a stone base of 200mm thickness, and a comprehensive layout with elevation, reinforcement, and quality assurance details.

With the contractor’s compliance, the ministry said construction can now proceed, subject to final approval.
