It’s the 35th birthday of multiple award-winning Nollywood diva, Genevieve Nnaji.
Born on May 3, 1979, in Mbaise, Imo State, Genny, as she is fondly called, grew up in Surulere, Lagos.
She attended Methodist Girls College, Yaba, Lagos, before transferring to the University of Lagos.
Her first work as an actress was at the tender age of 8, in the then popular TV soap The Ripples. She auditioned for movie roles while at the university, and made her debut in the movie industry with The Wanted.

She soon became a household name after a couple of movies that validated her acting prowess. In 2004, she signed a recording contract with EKB Records, a Ghanaian record label, and released her debut album, One Logologo Line, a mix of R&B, Hip-Hop and Urban music.
Genevieve and the football star, Mikel Obi, recently featured in a short film by Amstel Malta. They star in the Nollywood-style clip, portraying the odyssey of their rise to national and global acclaim – the humble beginnings, the struggles through uncertainty, initial breaks and major breakthroughs.
Genevieve also has featured in several commercials, some of which are Pronto beverage and Omo detergent. She was the Face of Lux in Nigeria in 2004. In 2008, she launched her clothing line – St. Genevieve, the proceeds of which are donated to Charity.

In May 2010, she was appointed the official Face of MUD in Nigeria. Adored for her great and effortless interpretation of movie roles, she has received several awards and nominations for her work.
