The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon were on Sunday ousted from the FIFA Confederations Cup by world champions Germany at the Fisht Stadium in Sochi.

The African champions fell 1-3 to the Germans, thereby ending their participation in the tournament.

Kerem Demirbay thumped in the ball from the edge of the area to score his first international goal for Germany in the 48th minute.

Ernest Mabouka made the job harder for Cameroon when he was sent off in the 64th minute.

Timo Werner headed in Germany’s second in the 67th minute while Vincent Aboubakar scored a consolation goal for the Africans in the 79th minute.

Werner scored his second of the day in the 82nd minute for Germany.

Cameroon had their best Confederations Cup outing in 2003 when they got to the final even though they had to cope with the tragedy of losing a player, Vivian Foe, who slumped and died on the pitch during the tournament.
