Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo on Wednesday suspended four high court judges on the advice of the judicial council.

The affected judges are Uuter Dery, Mustapha Logoh, Gilbert Addo and Charles Quist. The decision takes immediate effect.

The suspension follows the establishment of a prima facie case against the four justices by the committee set up by the chief justice to investigate alleged acts of bribery and corruption against certain persons.

“This include the four justices, as contained in the August 29, 2015 petition of ace journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas,” read a statement from the presidency.

The judges were accused of taking bribes to set accused people free and rule in favour of those who paid bribes.
