Ghanaians react as MTN raises products’ prices by 15%

MTN Ghana has announced a price adjustment across all its products and services.

The new tariff, which became effective on November 28, 2023, the telecom giant said in a notice to customers on November 24, 2023.

It is understood that the adjustment is “a 15 percent increase” in calls, SMS, and data rates.

MTN Ghana attributed the upward adjustment to rising operational costs.

“Dear Valued Customer, kindly be informed that effective 28th November 2023, the prices of MTN products will be revised upwards due to increased operational costs,” the notice reads.

“Continue enjoying our special offers on our network. Visit our website www.mtn.com.gh for more details.”

The development elicited was received with angst as customers took to the X platform to express their dissatisfaction with the increase in prices.

Meanwhile, the hike is a reflection of the current global economic landscape as companies continue to implement policies to ease the burden of operational costs.

On November three, Multichoice Nigeria announced an increase in the cost of its DStv and GOtv packages — the second price hike from the pay-tv firm in the year.
