Glo Foundation to reward secondary school girl scientists with N5m prize

In its bid to encourage female secondary school girls to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses, Glo Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of telecommunications company, Globacom, has promised to shower millions of Naira on girls who excel in its National STEM competition tagged “Glo Innov8”.

Under the programme, secondary school girls across Nigeria will be competing for the N5m prize money. The foundation explained that the competition is in commemoration of the 2025 edition of the International Day of the Girl Child.

According to it, the ‘Glo Innov8’ National STEM Competition is geared towards encouraging girls in secondary schools to “Compete, Innovate and Win” and also shore up their confidence and knowledge.

Said Glo Foundation, “This is our modest way at Glo Foundation of celebrating and encouraging the girl child to focus more on the studies of STEM subjects and pursue careers in these areas in future so as to become problem solvers for the country”

The school which comes tops with the best idea will receive N2,000,000 prize, while the two students who will stand in for the winning school will get a laptop each, with the Teacher/Mentor/STEM Coordinator getting a token of N200,000. Students of schools that emerge second and third, as well as their Teachers/Mentors/STEM Coordinators will also smile home with consolation prizes.

The competition is open to all secondary schools which have girl population in Nigeria. The entry portal was flagged off on Monday September 15th, 2025 and will close on October 5, 2025.

Glo Foundation urged schools interested in the competition to register by logging on to https://glo-foundation.com/glo-innov8/ to fill the form for a chance to clinch the star prize of N5,000,000.
