Femi Adesina‎, special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, says only God’s counsel shall stand, regarding the health of his principal.

In what appears to be a reaction to speculations on social media that Buhari had died, Adesina asked why some people imagine vain things.

He appreciated those who have been praying for the president, saying God will bless them.

‎”Why do some people rage and imagine vain things? It is the counsel of God that shall stand. May God bless all those praying for PMB,” he tweeted.

Buhari left the country for a medical vacation last week Sunday, saying his doctors will determine the period of his stay.

The president had transmitted letters to the senate and the house of representatives, explaining that he had handed over to Osinbajo.

Buhari had restricted himself to the presidential villa in Abuja when he returned to the country after spending 49 days in the UK.

His absence at key functions had fuelled speculations about his health, but the presidency regarded virtually all the reports as rumours.

During the first meeting he held with members of his cabinet after returning to the country in March, Buhari confessed that he had never been so sick in his life.

However, details of his sickness have been shrouded in secrecy.

Although Buhari’s aides and those around him have been hinting at a second term, the president has refrained from making public comments about his reelection.
