Nigeria’s U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, recorded a 9-0 win over Team Nigeria UK, the Soaring Eaglets, at the Abuja National Stadium on Wednesday.

Emeka Ebere scored a hat-trick and there was also a brace for Suleiman Abdullahi. Other goal scorers were Chinedu Madueke, Kelechi Nwakali, Orji Promise and Gavi Thompson.

However, the team’s coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, is not flattered by the huge scoreline.

“The match was just another opportunity to test and evaluate our players as we build towards the World Cup in Chile, but we are not bothered with the score line,” he said.

“It was good these boys came around from overseas and try to possibly find their way into the team and we are going to sit down and evaluate them.”

The coach of Team Nigeria UK, David Doherty, expects a better result in their next game fixed for the same venue on Thursday.

“Hopefully we will put up a better performance in the next game,” he said.

“Some of the boys were not at their best since this was their first time in the country.”
