The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Gombe state has inaugurated eight committees to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to NAN, the committees include contact and mobilisation, reconciliation, youth mobilisation, women mobilisation, media and publicity, finance, planning/strategy, research, and documentation.
The inauguration was presided over by Adamu Modibbo, chairman of the party in the state.
Modibbo said each team had been assigned clear responsibilities in line with the party’s constitution.

The party chairman said the move reflects SDP’s focus on grassroots outreach, unity, and structured planning.
He asked committee members to carry out their tasks with commitment and national interest in mind.
In his welcome remarks, Kelmi Lazarus, former SDP chairman in the state, applauded the new leadership for uniting the party.

He called on members to cooperate with Modibbo, saying the goal is to secure electoral success for SDP in Gombe and across the country in 2027.
Lazarus said he believes the current leadership would restore public trust and lead the party to a stronger position.
Also speaking, Adamu Soye, chairman of the contact and mobilisation committee, commended the party for finding them worthy of the responsibilities.
Soye assured the leadership and members of the party that the committees would “work tirelessly” to justify the confidence reposed in them.
