Gombe senator defects from PDP to APC
Joshua Lidani, senator representing Gombe south, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ahmed Lawan, senate majority leader, made the announcement on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Wednesday.
Lawan congratulated Lidani but did not give reasons why the senator defected to the ruling party.
“Let me inform this senate that very distinguished senator Joshua Lidani representing Gombe south is defecting from the PDP to the APC. Congratulations,” he said.
Lidani’s defection is coming weeks after Osinachukwu Ideozu, senator representing Rivers west, has defected to the APC.
Until his defection he was the only PDP senator in Rivers state.
The eight senate has witnessed a series of defection since its emergence in 2015.
