Grace Ike commends Tinubu for appointing Stella Din-Jacob as NTA news director

Grace Ike, chairperson of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the federal capital territory (FCT), has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Stella Din-Jacob as director of news of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

The presidency announced Din-Jacob’s appointment last week. She hails from Plateau state.

In a statement on Wednesday, Ike said Din-Jacob is the first female to be appointed to the position.

She described Din-Jacob as an “ace broadcaster with a remarkable career who has groomed and mentored many professionals within the media industry”.

Ike said she worked under Din-Jacob’s tutelage as a reporter, which is a testament to her influential mentorship and leadership.

“She shaped my early years in reporting and set the standard for excellence, ethics, and courage in journalism,” Ike said.

“Her appointment is not just history for women in the media but also a validation of her impact on young journalists who passed through her guidance.”

Jide Oyekunle, FCT NUJ secretary, said Din-Jacob’s elevation reflects Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive leadership.

“Din-Jacob’s appointment is well-deserved, reflecting her decades of dedication, excellence, and transformative leadership in journalism,” he said.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointment of Stella Din-Jacob is commendable, reflecting his commitment to inclusive leadership.

“The council praised her outstanding service at major media houses such as Silverbird Group, Channels Television, TVC News, and others, where she excelled in managing large newsrooms and shaping credible, balanced, and impactful news coverage.

“Her leadership would bring further growth and innovation to national broadcasting, foster unity, peace, and national development, and continue to inspire women and young journalists across Nigeria.”
