Francis Nwifuru, governor of Ebonyi, has appointed Grace Umezurike as the secretary to the state government (SSG).

Umezurike, a senior lecturer at Ebonyi State University, is the first female to be appointed SSG in the state.

Until her appointment, she was a professor of socio-political philosophy at the university which is in Abakaliki, the state capital.

Umezurike’s appointment was announced in a statement issued on Friday by Monday Uzor, chief press secretary to the governor.

The new SSG is from Uburu in Ohaozara LGA of the state.

“The governor of Ebonyi state, his excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has approved the appointment of Prof. Grace Umezurike as secretary to Ebonyi state government,” the statement reads.

“She will be sworn in on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at the executive council chambers of the government house, Abakaliki, Ebonyi state.”
